One of the most enjoyable phases of my career was dedicated to international research partnerships. I’ll be very clear – my specialty is not in international student recruitment or in developing international campuses, and there are better people than me for those topics. But what I have done is develop sustainable, equitable research partnerships between universities in the UK and overseas which have mutual benefit. Getting these things right has a major impact on reputation.
